to-do list for the holidays
because everyone does this, right?
- make christmas cards for my friends. i’ve already bought the candy canes to stick to the inside of the cards.
- sort-of related, buy mum and dad and my sister lovely presents.
- buy better paintbrushes and practice doing watercolour. and just doing more arty shit in general.
- again with the art, i should use my silkscreen more too. i might buy some calico bags in bulk, screen-print designs onto them and use them to put christmas presents in. yeah! that’d be fun.
- find another job. hurrrrrr.
- read ‘the history of sexuality’ by foucault. or at least volume one since it’s a popular penguin. i don’t know why i haven’t done this already.
- keep the place clean, rather than doing one massive clean like i did today, and then not touching the vacuum cleaner for another month. this also includes doing the dishes every night. a clean place really motivates me.
- buy a garden bench, so i can sit outside in the sun and read.
- the kitchen is getting renovated in a few weeks, so we’ve got to get around to taking everything out of the cupboards and drawers, and we also have to paint. packing away everything will be a drag but otherwise i’m terribly excited about the new kitchen.
- ensure that there is always a vase of flowers in the living area.
- less sleeping in. staying in bed past 9:30 is hereby verboten.
- actually get around to watching ‘the wire’.
- acquire, and listen to, more music. i’m so outta the loop it ain’t funny.
- and last, but not least, stick to having fruit for breakfast each morning. i’ve done it for the two weeks (except for the last two mornings because i forgot to buy more fruit) and i was amazed at how much better it made me feel.
ah, the start of the holidays. ah, the optimism! i’ll try to revisit this in march and see what i’ve actually managed to get done. heh.
